I have a B.S. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Purdue University, all in Aeronautics and Astronautics. I grew up in New England and now live in the Midwest. I am married with three grown children and have several grandchildren. I worked in the aerospace industry my entire career and have been writing books as a creative outlet for over ten years. I also enjoy playing golf and my hobby is astronomy.

 

If you are wondering what the C stands for, it is Crawford.  My full name is Crawford Frederic Smith III. I am named for my father and grandfather and go by Fred to avoid getting us mixed up. I am not sure if anyone knows where Crawford came from. I guess my great-grandmother just liked the name!
